have discovered a strange forest, full of nasty monsters, hale 
warriors, and there is even the rumor of a spirit!

Designer note: This is the first part of an interconnected 
complex of areas.  Each area will have a subquest, and all 
subquests will follow one story.  As the new subareas come 
out, more of the story will be revealed.  You may find some 
exits that don't go anywhere - yet! So enjoy the first installment
of this story.  More to come later.

This was not a pleasant event, and for the most part sucks.

Jaguar abused his wizard powers by giving things to Aphrodite. We cannot
as a mud tolerate that, and we had to dewiz Jaguar. He is free to
return as a player 
the nuking was just to clean up guilds/taskpoing/exp etc gained as a wizard.

We have logs of certain items changing hands. If anyone else has
been a recipient of
this, or knows of it happening it is best to speak up now.

Some information for those who have (or are planning) on submitting
a builder application before July 1st.

1.  Builder applications received since the last review cycle will
be looked at in July.  You will be informed sometime by the end of
July regarding approval.

2.  There is a question on the builder applications ... "Will you
uphold the wiz rules?" ... by answering 'Yes' to this question, you
are effectively saying the following:

"Yes, I have read the wiz_rules document completely and thoroughly. 
I either was able to fully understand each section or sought
assistance from another in gaining this understanding.  I agree that
I will follow these rules.  If I should fail in this regard, I
understand that I may LOOSE the PRIVILEGE of being a 
uilder/wizard."

During the course of July, I reviewed all of the builder
applications that were submitted between April 1 and July 1.  Three
new builders were selected, and I feel that they are already showing
a great deal of promise towards enhancing/expanding IoM.

For those of you who submitted applications after July 1st, your
application will be reviewed during October 2003 along with any
others received between now and October 1st.  You will receive
notification from me by the end of October as to the decision for
that cycle.

For those of you who have not submitted applications, but will. 
Please ensure that the "area idea" submitted with your application
is complete and thorough.  Aside from your worth and your name, I
have very little information with which to make a decision upon. 
Because of this, I give a great deal of emphasis on the area you are
seeking to create.  While coding experience is preferred and does
play a factor also, that is something we are able to work on much
easier than other areas.

1) All bodies are taxed at their current rates (eje sacs as always
    has been only count for the current body).
2) Any body that is unselected is charged at 0.0 because it has
   already been reicned at a penalty.

After a talk with Daneel.. if the list of players is longer than
5 players the block takes affect.

Race lead is working again.

I've fixed them (had a max instead of a min).

Since no one bothered to report their out-of-tunage as a bug,

I made some modifications to healing herbs (the ones you get with
the herb_gathering skill).  The changes _should_ be nearly totally
transparent (the only functional change is that they should all 
now check if you need them, and not get used if you don't, rather

Players will now only wimpy 1 room per heartbeat.

What this means is that if you wimpy, and a monster gets entry hits
on you it will not cause you to wimpy again 
until the _next_ round of combat.

The reason is to stop errors with wimpy ping ponging
bouncing from one monster to another.

Needs a reboot to be fully functional.

Over the next few days I will be moving some code from the builder port
to here. This _should_ be a transparent change to you as playes, however I
did rearrange large parts of the monster code.

If you see _anything_ unusual or encounter any problems please let me know
as soon as possible. This is in preparation for a few upcoming changes
and we need to get the bugs worked out (Have not seen any on the builder port)
but obviously there are no players there and players always push
code in directions
we do not expect.

Anyway more of an FYI to let me know of any monster oddities. My plan is to 
start moving the code tonight or tomorrow.

a few things..

I am not sure which player started this lovely rumor but please
remember that half of what the players think they know is 
wrong.

this is a perfect case. The monsters did not get 'tuned'
they did not get adjusted because of any whining players
etc etc etc. Its all MIS from whowever started it.

It was plain and simple a bug introduced by the changes to
monsters we made a few weeks ago. The azarian monsters
were not setting their exp correctly anymore.

That has been fixed.

He was avoiding entry hits by exploiting a bug in the entry hit
code for monsters. This was reported about 2 weeks ago 
by another player but the significance of it didn't register
right away (the bug report wasn't complete).

Fixed the MXP tag on aggressive monsters. It will now only
highlight the monster name in hte color you choose for tag #26
the (wounded) message will again be the color that corresponds

I've changed a bit the way guild plaques are working so the rankings
on these may be a little bit foobared for a while till everyone on the

MXP changes.

I am slowly changing from the 'mxp' command to a new
version of it that will allow you to control which
tags are sent to you and which arent.

As a temporary solution the new command is mxp2. Currently 
only 2 options work with mxp2. All the rest of the options
are still controlled from the mxp on command.

  mxp2 status bar
  mxp2 gauges

If you turn the status bar option on the mud will start
sending you a status bar that looks like the following:

 HP: 10/10 SP: 10/10 EP: 10/10 Monster: Orc Health: 90 Action: Light

If you turn the gauges on you will see 4 colored bars 
that represent your hp/sp/ep/monster health.

You can control the color of these bars by right
clicking on them and changing them.

These are meant to be basic status bars/gauges for those
that do not wish to write their own triggers.

Currently the options do not save that you have turned on 
that is because I am still actively working on them and 
may be changing things behind the scenes.

Players that do not have MXP can turn this on as well.
I have not tied it in with the checking to see if the 
client is MXP aware or not so you will get spammed 
if you turn it on.

Please let me know of of any problems other than only 
the first word of a name/skill showing up. This has
been fixed when you get a new body.

Also note that I am working on this stuff so it may
break from time to time.

Main reason for this is so you can buy your own items back if you

Some shops got loaded while I was playing with differant

4 players nuked for winnig a lot of money at the dragon races
then rather than saying woah thats not right they all immeidately
started spending it. They introduced approx. 1,000,000,000 gold into the 
mud in 1 day and thought that was ok.

We started down the path of just taking their gold back from them
however we ran into obstacles as they dispersed the money so quickly
those players that received the money put up obstacles of their
own and made it near impossible for us to get the money back out
of the game.

Khosan spent time trying to manually talk to the players involved
and reverse the transactions however like I said above he 
hit road block after road block  and players not cooperating.

The only solution at that time was to restore a backup from
5/30 which puts everything back to a point in time where thsi 
problem had not occured yet.

Yes it sucks but its the way it is going to be.
Everyone is in the same position.

outsiders as apprentices. 
The necromancers are still not sure however and for
starters they only want a select few of them and so
for now you will have to mail Ixtlilton if you want to
become a necromancer. 

For those who didn't get it.
I need some player testers for necros. I will be taking
players from level 50 and up. As a player tester you are
meant to test the guild out and see if everything works 
as intended, if anything bugs or is severely out of tune etc.

Mail me if your interested, include your current level and 
worth and any other information that you think is good
to know.

I will post again when the players are selected if you havent
gotten a reply to your mail by then i can only wish you better
luck next time.

As we did last year a reinc machine with unlimited free reincs 
has been put into CS. This machine will only work on the
anniversary of the day we changed the muds name.. (Yes I could 
tell you when but its more fun to watch you guys struggle).

The machine the mud runs on had a little problem this morning.
A script went a little haywire and filled up all the disks.

While the mud kept running it could no longer save anything
and for whatever reason way long ago in the past it was decided that
errors saving would be quietly ignored.

So it is intirely possible you lost a few hours of exp/eq/whatever
with your character.

Not sure why we crashed... however the exp loss for some of you.

We do auto save players every 20 minutes however  
early this morning it did error due to trying to save too
many players all at once (this is code back from 1996) so we 
were not saving automatically. Those that were typing save lost
exp back to the point they had last saved. Those that didn't save
lost a lot more depending on when you did some action that triggered
you to save (there are a few actions other than typing save but off the top
of my head I don't recall)

This afternoon I will remove this code and make each person
save individually every 20 minutes which will remove
this problem.
Not that this helps the people that lost exp but at least we
have a reason.

added exp, gold, and explore as options. Thats all the 'types'

I modified all parties.

Added an option to the 'block' command.

'block solo' will toggle whether or not you see the solo parties
in all parties or not.

You will need to go link dead and reconnect if you connected to

when you now do 'who guild ' you can choose to
capitalize the guild name in order to show only those who are
primary members of that guild. ie who guild Healer will show only

After boot...

Forget style effects on monsters will not be 100% effective.
Monsters will have a chance to cast a spell or use a skill through
forget. That chance is based on their level.

High level monsters will have a (slightly) better chance to resist
stuns caused by spells.

Mind Vortex has been tuned somewhat, recalculated success chance,
increased casting time, decreased effect duration, slightly reduced
effect strength.

A few other witch spells have had their casting times increased.
