subject: new server
date: Sat Aug 14 20:54:21 2004

We moved to a new server. It is not as powerful as the old one, but it is
decent. For those that care about such things, these are the specs:

CPU: Athlon64 3000+ (single CPU).
Memory: 1 GB
Disk: 2x160 GB in a RAID 1 configuration for system disk and 2x80 GB in a
RAID 1 configuration dedicated to the mud. The RAID is plain linux software
RAID with MD and LVM2.

The old server was a very expensive IBM server with dual CPU, hardware RAID
and so on. The company that owns the server needed it for other purposes,
and it would be crazy for us to pay for such an expensive server.

The web site is still on the old server, and parts such as reading news
might not work. This will get fixed when I get to it.

The new server is a 64 bit CPU which might be a challange when compiling
MudOS. It looks like I managed to get it working, but we will have to see
how stable it is.

For builders and wizards:

You can now use ftp to one of the following addresses:

ftp3.islandsofmyth.org port 21
ftp10.islandsofmyth.org port 21

Both passive on and off works now.

While it is technically possible to connect to port 2999 and 9999
still, I do not recommend it.
I do not think you will get it working on the old ports unless you
are an expert at ftp/firewalls.

Also do not try to use ftp to the main address (islandsofmyth.org) -
you do not have access to
the ftp server on that IP.

The player the posts are referring to is Slash. He was

remember why he is no longer here.

For those of you that do not know he was removed for
the same reason but back then he was screwing newbies
This time he seems to think its ok since its highbies
he is screwing.

I suggest not dealing with this person at all his
intentions are to only screw with every player on
this mud that he can.

If I get one more report of him doing this and

remove him.

Decision was made that none of us (wizards) like to see players
running around in some of the silly top slot equipment that
got into the game on Oddworld. Many are not happy with Oddworld
at all and would like to see it all taken out of the game.

We compromised and have a disadvantage to using that equipment.

Nothing from Odd World can have its max condition repaired with
pyroclasts.

You are free to continue using the equipment obviously but it will
have a disadvantage to doing so.

poster: Marvin
subject: For the record
date: Fri Oct 29 18:07:22 2004

For the record, I don't really _hate_ oddworld. In fact, I haven't
really ever seen much of it. And really, I dont _hate_ the eq descs.
I mean, I suppose there were people running around in frilly goofy
crap in all the different ages. But what I don't like, personally,
is frilly goofy crap being "top slot". I know this is not a
role-playing mud, but knights running around in fuzzy this or pink
that or Shiny Red the other, that just rubs
me the wrong way.
So the options, to me, are redesc the eq, or make it not "top slot".
I don't want to redesc someone elses area... its a chore, and really
not all that respectful to coders who have worked hard at their
creations. And rather than going through and mass-restatting eq to
make it junk, and then tuning the monsters so they ever get done,
etc (I have a hard enough time keeping the couple eq monsters I have
written in tune) I chose the path of least resistance. Its still
great eq, but it has a disadvantage, you can't max-cond-repair it.
So maybe those knights will wear a nice steel breastplate when out
marauding, and save the pink frilly nighty for when they are at home
with their wife.

we used a number that had not been put through the party object.

This has been fixed and party kills and last kills will now match.

It is possible until the next reboot that you will still
get incorrect numbers in last kills (possibly a 0). This
does not mean that you got no experience, just means that
the change has not gone all the way in yet and some monsters/
parties are updated and others are not.

Again even though it shows 0 you _are_ getting the exp.

It is tricky to find the balance between making witches useful and

I would probably expect further tweaks in the near future, but I

Also, several of the monsters were 'adjusted' as well, and outfitted

I have spent the last few days going through the quests and I
_think_ they will all work with the muds recent
code changes.

Due to their complexity and the fact that I did not write
the quests myself I do not promise that there will be no
bugs in them.

If as a player you cannot handle waiting for a few bugs to be
fixed _please_ do not join the guild then. Those of you
that do join and sit and bitch and moan about any bugs you
encounter will find yourselves out of the guild painfully.

If you encounter any bugs please use bug and report as much

I removed the (XX.X) percentage display from the 'checkeq' command.
Many people were unsure what this meant, and was really too much
information anyway.
Instead, I have added a more detailed description to each object
which tells the current condition, as well as the maximum condition
that the object can be repaired to (non-pyro).
I have changed the old descriptions of the amount of decay to new
descriptions, just to mess you up (and to add a few more
descriptions).

It will probably take a boot for your eq to get the more detailed
decay line in its description.

Massacre at Lunthar & Luthar Mine
(excerpt from the dwarf Moinar's admittance for care interview)

"Operations of the new mine started out normal. The blasting of the
mine began promptly on schedule and all seemed to be going good.
We dug and stabilized four fresh mineshafts and were set to open the
mine and begin harvesting the mountain's resources. Then a section
of one of the mineshaft's wall collapsed, revealing a large network
of caverns deep inside the mountain. Operations were temporarily
halted while Lunthar & Luthar investigated the findings. The cavern
rock seemed rich with minerals and the brothers decided to bring in
new equipment to mine the rock instead of the dirt. While we were
awaiting the shipment of new tools and supplies, it happened. One
minute we were enjoying the fresh morning air, the next we were
surrounded. We couldn't tell for sure what they were, but the looked
human enough to me. They attacked without hesitation and slaughtered
nearly all of us. I managed to cheat death only by hiding amongst a
pile of dead bodies until there was a moment for me to escape. While
in hiding, I was to bear witness to the cannibalism of our attackers.
They proceeded to dine on the miners, some cooked over a large fire,
some eaten alive and squirming. It was truly terrible and horrifying."

-----Conversion------
You might have noticed that you have been force-reinced.
This is because we have done some changes to the way
guilds and guild-trees work. What we have done is gotten
rid of all the current alpha guilds. We have then made
the betas into alphas. So now instead of having fighter
as base alpha you have two new alphas, martial artist
and warrior. The new alphas are also 20 levels instead
of 10.

In addition to this we have opened up for more multiclassing.
You no longer need to be level 70 to join a secondary guild
and we no longer limit it to 2 alphas. You can now join as
many alpha guilds as you want to. There is however one limitation.
For each new tree join you will be able to reach 1 less guild level.
IE in a secondary guild you wont be able to join the omicron and
in a tertiary you wont be able to join a bravo.

You will now also be able to have abjurer as a secondary guild.

Expect some tuning as things go on. Players did test for us
but they were not able to test every aspect of all possible
combinations. things most likely will change over the
next few weeks. Please do not complain.

Okay guys, We are starting to get more than a little tired of
this petty bickering that's going on. We don't really care which
side of the issue you take, because this addresses both sides.

Just a gentle reminder... If this continues you will force us to get
involved and as usual we promise that both sides will not like
the outcome. Some of us have had lots of practice dealing with
little kids and that is what this has become is 2 little kids
yelling back and forth about nothing. We have a nice room where
you can spend some quiet time if you really feel it is necessary.

For those against swearing. We respect that However, be consistant. The
point about swearing verses the overall violence that is demonstrated
on this game is valid. But that's not all. Some of you anti-swearing
folks turn around and say some of the most lewd things I've seen in some
time, only not using 'those words'. To that, I say that you're a hypocrit.
Glass Houses, Pot-Kettle-Black, etc.

For those who want to talk like sailors. Fine, but don't do it
just to piss other people off and attempt to keep it on
channels where it is more appropriate.
Please respect other's views.

We understand that the conversations some time come up and continue and turn
into something that is not appropriate for the channel its on. It is a simple
thing to move it to a more appropriate place when that happens.

The mud does have rules about this type of thing and as stated above
if you need us to get involved in this type of petty stuff then neither
side will like it very much. We can play channel police if you really
want to have us spend our time doing that. Personally that is not something
we wish to spend our free time doing.

On the whole it boils down to the same things.

 * Grow some tolerance.

 * Don't antagonize people just to piss them off. (Strictly speaking,
this is harassment if it continues, and it has from some of you).

 * Don't be hypocritical.

 * And do not allow yourself to be baited into an arguement. Some of
you allow yourself to be baited over and over and over.

I removed the 15 posts that were part of this thread

We will start handing out newsbans if this stupid bickering continues
in news or will take appropriate actions if it continues elsewhere.

Starting next boot there will be a new type of random
drops. These items will be unique and there will only
be one in the game (possibly 2 for a short while
due to the timing on things).

Once these items are in the game they are only useable
by the individual that killed the monster or by any
member of the party that killed the monster.

If any other player other than what I mentioned about
tries to save the item it will disappear.

These items once they appear on a corpse will only be
in the game for a limited amount of time before they
disappear and become eligible for a monster to drop again.

As of right now there are only 5 items available hopefully
that will change as time goes on.

This is a _rare_ occurence too if you didnt guess.

Some monsters this boot might pick up the changes, some might not
All monsters will have the changes effective next boot.

Ok I am tired of the questions here it is in English..

1) If you have an item you will not be given another one period.

Put it in your safe, your inventory, hide it in a room in
your castle it will not matter you will not get another one
   until it disappears.

This includes if you find some way to lose the item you
still will not get a new one until the time has expired for
the one you had. And no I am not telling you what that time
  is.

Reboots will not help you either.

2) You are free to give the item to anyone you want to use it.

Nothing bad will happen because they used it.
    Again nothing bad will happen.

Give it to your familiars nothing bad will happen.
Give it to every player on the mud to use.

    Nothing will happen.

The entire key to these items is to make sure that you or a member
of your party are the ones that log in with them.

There are 3 places that the code checks to see if the current
holder of the item was in the party that got the item.

1) When you log in and we create items in your inventory.

   a) after 30 minutes of idle time
   b) after a reboot.

2) When you open your safe/chest

3) When your familiars inventories are created.

If you have one of these items when any of the above occur
and you were not in the party that got the item
the item will be removed from your possession and be placed
back into the pool.

Its really that easy.

This does lead to the possibility that 2 items of the same name
may be in the game for a little while but if that happens often
it is easily fixable.

So to summarize.. 3 players in a party a, b, c.

a, b, c are all free to use the item and quit/store it where
ever they like and nothing bad will happen.

Player d is free to use it as well however if player d goes
idle or gets caught in a reboot or puts it in a safe/chest etc
the item will disappear.

Sometime today I am going to reset the unique items so that

This will also introduce the change that makes sure they
get into differant players hands unlike this time where 1

I really don't believe this is a big enough issue to warrant a
single line of code written for it.

It is a really rare thing. Frankly, if it isn't a really rare
thing for you, it's probably because you've done similar things
to others in the past.

If you can't deal with the occasional mistake politely, grow up.

If you can't make peace with the much more occasional purposeful
kill-stealer, either grow up or (if they will not make peace)
use some sort of in-game sanction, like stoping partying with
them, and publicly declaring why.

AFAIK, kill-stealing is not, nor has it ever been, illegal.
Harrassment is illegal. Repeated kill-stealing from the same
person is harrassment. I get really tired of complaints on the
order of "X stole my kill, please sanction him" for what are
clearly one-time, accidental incidents (not saying that's what
this was, but 99% of the incidents I hear about are exactly
that).

Dealing with something this rare through code or rules is just
plain overkill. Grow up, play nice, and do unto others as you
want done unto you (as opposed to, perhaps, doing unto them as
they did unto you), and we won't need this sort of discussion.

              -Daneel

******************************************************************

I promise you if you make us come up with code to stop this you
will not like it.

If you find this post in the archives you will see that I asked
for alternatives to help solve the problem. Baer had the only]
workable idea that didn't include babysitting players which I
will not and do not have the time to do. I will think some
more on Baer's idea but if you have other ideas let me know
via mail. PK and wizard babysitting is not an option.

We are nearing the limit of the castle area there are probably
20 castle spaces left.

In 1 or 2 weeks we will be holding an auction for contents of
34 castles whose owners have the oldest last login dates.

In other words I sorted each castle by the date their owner
last logged in then took the oldest 34.

I do not have all the details yet and more will follow
but I suspect things will go like this...

1) You will be able to bid on castles for a certain amount
of time (undecided at this point how long)
2) Top bid in gold will 'win' the castle.
3) You will then have some time to empty that castle of its
contents and do what you wish with them. (not determined
how much time yet) then the castle will be removed.

**********************8

This will be at your own risk.

Some castles are empty
Some have lots of equipment
Some may have lots of equipment that is no longer saveable/loadable
I saw at least 2 original tiamat pieces in that list.

Again it will be at your own risk.

This is just a warning. I reserve the right to change
the way I am doing this at any time since it is dependant
on my writing some code.

Type 'shop' for more details on how to open your own shop, and read
the following carefully:

In each store, whoever drops a piece of equipment will be the only
one who can pick it up. This will allow people to get their armor
and weapons appraised and repaired without worrying about the
blacksmith stealing any EQ. If you give your equipment to a
blacksmith and he/she steals it, it is your own loss as there are
countermeasures against this.

again please do so and make sure your idea is well thought out.

I also froze any builder on the other port that I felt was not
making progress on an area. I am sure some of you have good reasons
so contact me and we will discuss it. Others of you have been
wizards for well over 2 years and have not produced an area yet and
have not worked on anything recently.

This leaves me with 5 builders that have shown they are working
on stuff but I have to be honest.. some of you have been
around for 2+ years and not produced an area.

Either show progress or I will stop wasting my time and the

So that people understand.
The reason I have for making the changes i have just now made
is pretty much the same reason I had for changing the guild
structure. That is i want to open up for more variety and to make
it more interesting for both highbies and lowbies.

Therefore i have upped the effect of secondary abilities and i have
removed some caps on bonuses from equipment. In order to compensate
for this however i have put in the exp rate tune. In my oppinion, which
may or may not be shared by the other wizards, rates of people before
this tune has been on the high side and i dont want to create a situation
where i increase these even more.

The changes made today could very well be unmade by me or some other
wizard if we see that they don't work out. If you have anything constructive
to say feel free to do so, but any and all whine will be ignored (at least
by me).

The basic idea anyhow is to give the highbies a little more power at the cost
of some exp rate. Please remember in any critique or ideas that you post that
we do not have any fulltime coders working here and that the wizards that are
actually here are working here on our spare time, so we can't go about doing
any major changes that will take a long time to implement.

If you agree with these rantings of mine that would be great, but if
you don't...
then that's fine too.

Made a new sexy news thing on the web.

The difference from the old one is that you can

access all the groups you normally would be able to access.

This might not be a big difference for most ppls since they

don't have access to a whole lot of news groups, but some will

notice that they can read clan.general etc on the web now.

The addy (until it gets added as a link) is:

So. Got some feedback and I've decided to try a different method.

Instead of xprate loss each level/glvl you will now only lose exp rate

when you advance in a secondary guild. So as long as you stay in your primary

tree you will not suffer any loss of xprate.

This also means that the xp rate loss / level has increased some.

You don't lose xprate from adv levels.

You don't lose xprate from levels in your primary guild.

This goes into effect when you get a new body.

Etc

Might take a boot for everything to go back to normal.

subject: recent change
date: Sun Oct 16 17:31:29 2005

Just wanted to let you know of a recent change in the mud
so you can report any possible issues to us.

The mud is now saving information over reboots for rooms/monsters etc.
As an example if you kill a monster 1 hour prior to a reboot
and it is only set to reset once a day after the reboot you could
kill it again immediately. This will no longer happen the monster
will not reset until 24 hours _after_ you killed it.

Another example.. if you drop an item in a room it should still
be there after the next reboot (assuming it would save normally).

Possible issues to look out for...

Things that should go away that do not.
Incredibly long reset times on items (some things were fixed by
making them just never reset which means they will never reset).

Those are the 2 big issues I see that could pop up. Just make sure
to bug report anything that looks like it is working
incorrectly.

Er, apparently while I've been gone, _some_ wizards have thought
that since botting tithes only hurts the tither, they actually
find it amusing to see someone's triggers cause them to go
broke.

Not saying all wizards feel this way, so you might still get
nailed by someone having a bad day, but they are a somewhat
indeterminate grey area. Could go either way.

Heh

Good luck :-)

Store spell has been one of those things that has stumped us for
awhile.. how to make it not overpowering and yet useful at the
same time.

We finally had an idea that succeeds in doing that.

This change is not to store spell itself but to aiming the
amulet. When you aim the amulet you will be charged the sp's
that the spell normally would cost you.

We will see how this works out. The idea was not to make it
useful but to reign in some of the power of it.

If you have well thought out and constructive comments
either good or bad feel free to mail me. Rants and
exclamations of it sucks will be forwarded to Kaos.

I suppose I should explain...

We had been saving things over reboots. Example things dumped
in a room would be there after a reboot etc. This will no longer
happen. If you want to keep an item keep it in inventory or put
it in a safe/chest.

As usual when some piece of equipment is selling for far more
than it should, this was _way_ overpowered (as in, it was
probably better than a level 10 should be).
I've left it a bit overpowered (the main special alone does
that, and it was too cool to remove), but I've removed a lot of
the incidental powers of the sword.

subject: Cave

Earlier this week, a group of half-naked geologists were found
in the infamous 'Rose & Stick insect'. The cause of death for
each was acute embarassment as the drunken conversations abounding
turned to the number of the geologists' legs and the length of
their beards (the latter of which was said to have caused one
of the girls to break down and cry).

In the shirt pocket of one of the nerds, was a sizable journal
written in some ancient language that no reasonable person of
this day and age would know (possibly Valar-ese), hence Zifnab
was asked to do some translating, since he's well known for
being ancient.

Unfortunately. Zifnab was only able to translate some of it
before he fell into a deep slumber. When awoken; he became
cranky, nuked a few of the whipper-snappers and then
forgot where he was and wandered off.

The bit of text that was translated only mentioned a a cave that
the geologists had found near the aforementioned bar. The cave
was not impressive, and hardly worth exploring, and so they
decided to go play bingo. The words 'or something' and
'peppermints' appear often, but it is unknown as to whether that
was part of the diary or just half-hearted transliteration.

The Geologists and Strippers Union has asked that some brave
adventurers be sent to find this cave and explore is so that
the information can be gathered and displayed at the
union hall. When asked why they weren't sending their own
professionals, they replied 'Because we aren't stupid.'

Ok so maybe not as much a bug as a tuning issue, but Schizomycetes' resists
are rediculous now. I have 5 blasters in my party and we have been in
combat for 20 minutes straight with only 2 people dying over the whole
time, which didnt even cause us to leave. After the 20 minutes, he was only
at 94% health. I understand he was uptuned recently, but making his
resistances insane is really not the right way to do that in my opionin.

You are right they were insane and that was intentional on my part.

They are back to there pre-tune levels however he did learn another
surprise that should make fighting him a lot more interesting.

Totally forgot to do this with my week in Chicago

These can be identified oddly enough with the

FYI.

A mini problem has been found with respect to spells/skills in
multiple guilds.

I have a fix in mind for it but need to do some testing.

For right now if you are reincing and a spells or skill
is available in both your primary tree and another one
please 'get' (learn) that spell in the primary guild
not the secondary etc. Training it can happen in either
guild the problem comes in which guild you first get the
spell/skill..

Example: player A.

  1) Join necromancer - advances no further
  2) Join Weaver - advanced enough levels to get essence eye
                        and trains it.

  3) Advances IN necromancer until he/she gets essence eye.

At this point because you first learned essence eye in weaver
which is your secondary guild. It will be treated like a secondary
skill even though your primary does offer it.

I suggest you finish advancing in your primary guild first
until you see a post saying its fixed.

Do not ask for reincs depending on what I have to do to fix
it I may have to force reincs wait for the post.

The texas holdem table is now live! (that is with real gold)

There are still some minor issues with it

but most bugs should be fixed and haven't

had any new bug reports in a while so.

At the moment blinds are at 100/200 and

buyins are minimum 1000 and maximum 10000.

It's no-limit texas holdem and you play at your own risk.

As usual, report any bugs you find and remember: I'll **** **** you if you abuse it:)

If you want me to, i can add more tables.

-Ixtlilton

ps. if you have any questions, complaints or issues - i ask you to speak with Daran

Added an argument to the texas holdem tables.

You can now do 'poker bug' and it will add an entry

to the poker log. This is so i can more easily find the

places where things go wrong.

Doesn't mean you should stop using the normal bug reporting,

but if you use this command it'll be easier for me to scan

the logs and see why it went wrong.

Also think i fixed a bug where after the flop a person got a

chance to raise again after being called.

-Ixtlilton

ps. Also fixed the 'raiseto' argument. So that you can do

'poker raiseto X' and it will raise to that amount.

Hi,

Fer teh paset; fuw manths/yers, typo's half--knot ben adresed wel. Nwo thye half.

Below is a list of typos reported by you, finally addressed (163ish to be not so exact). I would like to note that not all typos reported by you have been addressed because, frankly, I have no clue wtf items some of you are talking about; in the future it may just be easier to bug report it and target the item in question so I can find it easily=) Emotes were also not addressed in this update because I don't have access to 3k atm.

There may be some spells/skills that I messed up more than I fixed, so just rereport those; hopefully I screwed up some of your triggers.

Thanks.

Psycho

The mud has its own pair of disks in a RAID 1 configuration (mirror). This

Ok. They are fixed but slightly differant than before.

Before fix: monster would check assisting at start of
combat then never again unless a few things happened

What is going to happen now.. Monsters are going
to attempt to assist at the start of combat just
like usual. The difference is if you leave combat
and return to that room they will recheck assisting.
It used to be you could leave and return and it made
no difference.

This is a compromise between them all attacking
and them only checking once and never again.

they are off from gmt. The list is larger than it needs to be
at this time but feel free to play with setting your timezone
and checking it out with rltime.

I am aware of a little issue with respect to daylight savings
time and its possibly my calculations but its pretty darn
close regardles.

you have to reconnect to the mud in order to have timezone
info associated with your player.

Hello.

Just thougt I'd say hi and tell you I'm the latest wizard
addition.

For a start I'll concentrate on trying to reduce the pile
of the various bugreports even more. And, try to be of
general assistance if you experience problems with the game.

Areas of personal interest would be game mechanisms in general,
and especially game balance.

If the name doesn't ring a bell, I believe several know who my
mortal char (still) is, and I'm also one of the two builders
working on the Valmoria areas.

Have fun.

just a warning. If an event is already running and it tries to start it will quietly ignore that request. What this means is if an event is running and you try to run it again with a ticket it will fail or not run. same goes if you start it with a ticket and the mud then tries to start it it will ignore the second request.

I've mucked with the party shares a little bit, in the hopes of
fixing a bug with high-xp rate races getting their bonus
doubly applied. Should be effective on all parties starting
immediately, and on necros soloing after reboot.

Please let me know asap if you see any problems.

It should be a slight bonus in parties (real parties, not fake
solo parties) where the average xp rate was <1, a slight
penalty if the average xp rate was >1, and even for all human
parties.

As of right now the mud is running on a vmware
image on a new machine.

Yes we know things are running slowly. The muds
old machine is having issues as you probably can
tell by the downtime this morning.

At this point I would suggest being careful with what
you do. This may or may not save.

ok. khosan has said he will carry over whatever files are
here to wherever it is we will finally move to.

the mud is running much better but it is not perfect.
There is still a time drift because of the virtual machine
that is out of our control and there is nothing we can do about it.
The obvious sign of this is that rltime is not correct but there are
other issues as well. the driver internally tries to do stuff
every X milliseconds (that is where the drift comes from).

things like the web site and any external commands you used to be
able to do will not work here. this is a bare bones copy of the mud
just enough to run the mud and nothing else..

We are here until you see another post saying we are no longer here.
Best answer I can give you. things depend on real life schedules.

We are now at a new server. The IP will change, but I don't have
the final new IP available yet. So for now we are at a temporary
ip of 217.116.238.129 port 3000. This will change soon.

There is a connection forwarder at the old IP, but it seems a bit
slow connecting for some reason.

And since we already had an accident, let me be clear:

THIS MUD SAVES. That means DON'T REINC or do anything else you
will regret.

Please use 217.116.225.153 port 3000 instead of the old IP.
This is the new permanent IP address of the mud.

If you use islandsofmyth.org port 3000 you should automatically
connect to the new IP when DNS is done updating (might take 24 hours).

Made another change to news.

From now on each news item that you read will be saved.

When it comes to the news interface in the mud you won't notice

any difference since that will continue to use the high water mark.

On the web however you will see threads with new posts in them in

a different color than those w/o new posts in them.

This i believe will make it easier to read news on the web.

ok, here's what i need if you want a costume.

1) i need the desc that you want the wearer to gain (i will be
reading these and probably editting them, since in my opinion most
people have the descing ability of my stuffed animals).

2) i need the name of the costume.

3) i need the desc of the costume itself.

4) i need the message for putting it on.

don't try to show off your skills by writing it in some code. just
tell me what it should say, and i'll figure the rest out.

This is a really dirty Vor. It is dressed in what other people have thrown in the garbage. It is wearing a thong made out of the hem of a Simple Wool Skirt and across its shoulders lay a stained piece of cloth that only god knows where it's been. Around it's neck hangs a badly written sign which reads 'Sex' and afterwards are 10, 5 and 3 golds of which the first two are crossed over. Lowest on the sign there is a simple addition 'I can dance too'. In the back of the Vor's string there is a single IOU note.

> 2) i need the name of the costume.

Costume of a Vor

> 3) i need the desc of the costume itself.

This Vor costume, really just a random assortment of stained rags, comes complete with a cheap sign.

> 4) i need the message for putting it on.

Thinking not of itself, nor it's fellow creatures of IOM, sheds its clothes, stands naked for a moment, then dresses up as a Vor. A dirty, dirty Vor.

Baer and I apologize greatly for the major earthquake caused this

We will try to be quietier and less....vigorous next time.
Our greatest apologies for any homes or property we may have damaged.

Well I should have known better.

I've made a change to success rates for spells and skills.

The success rate now depends somewhat on the level of the ability.

This means that it is easier to succeed in casting an alpha level spell than

it is to succeed in casting an omicron level spell.

This is primarily made in order to help newbies with their spell casting (or skill using).

A side effect of this change is that i noticed (and fixed) a bug that made 'ceremony' quite useless. It now works.

Slight change of plans.

The change is back.

It will be left in for 2 months.

At the end of those two months, we will entertain a week of
discussion about it (channel/newsgroup to be announced).

Until said 2 months are over, all complaints/flames will be
ignored. After that time, informed discussion will be
considered. Flames and comments based on no experience trying
the change will be ignored/deleted.

Please do try this out. While no one thinks this is the best
solution here, we do need some experimentation to narrow in on
some real, better solution. This may not be the last
experiment, either - we'll see what happens around new years.

The changes in Sloat are that he no longer requires equipment to
be in mint condition. He requires a particular range of
conditions - the exact ranges you'll have to find out by
experiment (I only know the numbers, not the names, so my
knowledge here would be useless to you anyway).

Note: currently this applies to current condition, not max
condition.

The overall goal is to try to get more equipment in the game,
rather than having the goal of eq. being immediate saccing,
with no other in-game effects.
