They have been set up to try make Islands of Myth an enjoyable playing experience for everyone involved. While not everyone will agree with all these rules, please realize that by logging in and playing here you are agreeing to abide by these rules.

Failure to abide by these rules will result in actions such as freezing/ nuking/banning of your character.

Rule Book for Islands of Myth:

• Swearing/foul or abussive language should be restricted to the 'obscene' channel. It's is unrealistic to forbid all swearing, and we realize that from time to time swearing will happen everywhere. That being said please try and limit it to the obscene channel so those offended by it can turn the channel off.
• Sexual harassment of any form is forbidden.
• Robotting, ie using trigs to completely control you character is forbidden. Penalties for this will be harsh.

  Partying with robotters may also be punished for those who are complicit with the robotter.

• "Flooding," or "spamming." Flooding is the excessive use of text output by a user with the intent of scrolling another user's screen to distract or annoy them.
• The "Guest" character is for browsing of the game. Guest is not to be used if a player already has a character created on Red Dragon. In the rare case that a bug of some sort has prevented use of an existing character, "Guest" may be used to TEMPORARILY to inform a Wizard of the problem, at which time, actions will be taken to remedy the situation. Using a guest to bypass a punishment over a character (posting in news for instance) is not allowed.
• Harassment of newbies by fooling them or tricking them to prevent them from being able to play is not an atmosphere we want in the mud, lets remember that we were all newbies once too.
• The newbie channel is in the game for the sole purpose of helping newbies become familiar with Islands of Myth. If you do not want to answer questions, explain stuff, or in any other way help newbies kindly turn the channel off. Giving false information on the newbie channel will result in a channel ban of your character, depending on the severity of the false information you gave a newbie the length will vary.
• Any and all bugs should be IMMEDIATELY reported to the staff of Islands of Myth, with the use of the "bug" command. Exploitation of bugs can make the game less enjoyable for everyone. Also the fact that you reported the bug, does not mean that you can continue to go ahead and abuse it.

  All bug reports now get a response in news (player.bugs) when they are closed, and you as the reporter of the bug will receive mail when the bug report is updated by a wizard and when its closed. You can use 'bt' or 'bug_tracker' to view the status of your current bug reports.

  Sometime around Feb 2000 we started using the player.bugs news group to respond to _all_ bug reports. The excuse that you didn't know if it was truely a bug or not is not valid, if you are unsure check the status of the bug or wait for the resonse in player.bugs.

• Your character is expected to be used by YOU. Do not allow others to use your character, do not sell your character or in any other way allow your character to be used by anyone but you. If this happens your character will be removed from the game. * Multiplaying is illegal. See help secondaries for more information.
