| I don't see why there's such a problem.
Lich is not a race. It's a stage of another race.
It just looks the same, because of similar mechaisms
"under the hood".
And, even if it were a race, there's no reason it should
behave the same way other races do in this one aspect -
it's not like it does in other aspects.
Think of it as a form that's so all-encompassing it hides
all trace of race, if you need to.
