| I'm currently entertaining the idea of attending this year.
I'd like some info from people who've been, since I honestly know very little about the more practicle aspects. Best places to stay, which events on the calendar are actually as cool as they sound etc
any info would be much appreciated thanks! |

| On Fri Apr 29 10:32:06 2011 Korthrun wrote post #302: > I'm currently entertaining the idea of attending this year. > > I'd like some info from people who've been, since I honestly know > very little about the more practicle aspects. > Best places to stay, which events on the calendar are actually as > cool as they sound etc > > any info would be much appreciated > thanks! i have been a number of times. here some top of mind stuff. go with a group or expect to join a group while there. book a hotel within walking distance. alternatively one of the caravan parks. good the park in advance since some are italian, australian, english, etc.. each country has their favourite. wear solid shoes (lots of glass), bring a costume or something similar. generally the 1st week is better than the 2nd week. more australians in the 1st week, more italians in the 2nd week. make sure to get to the tent of your choice early - 10 or 10.30am. once the tent is full, you wont get in again until somone leaves or generall yaround 4pm. there are no passes outside. weekends are alot fuller than on weeknights. tent closes at 11pm. this may seem early but if you have been drinking/sining/ singing/dancing for 12hrs nonstop you will be glad to find a kebab and your place to sleep. generally you should stay at least 3 days.. but longer than a week is not really necessary. you will make lots of friends and many of them will be travelling directly after if you need more let me know |
