The above explanation seems somewhat less than clear. It might be more helpful to describe this in terms of when entry hits are -dealt- by a mob, as opposed to when they are -received- by a player, as not receiving entry hits doesn't necessarily mean those entry hits aren't being dealt by the mob to someone else. On that note, I was aware that a change to entry hits with respect to tanking had taken place, but was under the impression that it was to 'fix a bug with entry hits', as opposed to 'change the way entry hits work'. In this case my understanding was that the bug involved entry hits being dealt when any player entered, to whomever was present and in the foremost party position of that player's party. This meant that a player could theoretically PK their tank by using some form of 'do n;s;n;s;n;s;n;s;(ad infinitum)' type of command.
As I understand it, the fix was to make the mob only inflict entry hits if the player was not in the foremost position of all present party members, at the moment they entered the room. Ie: if a player in party position 5 entered a room with an aggressive mob and the player in position 4 was already in the room, the mob would not deal entry hits. But then if the player in party position 2 entered, shortly followed by the tank in position 1, the mob would inflict entry hits to each player.
In the context of mobs dealing entry hits - as opposed to the context of players taking them, I can think of at least three possible interpretations of the description in the above post. The first is similar to the description I have supplied in the preceeding paragraph, the second is that the mob would deal entry hits to players no matter which position they are in, and the third is that the mob will deal entry hits only to players in party position 1. It would be helpful to have some clarification of which interpretation most accurately reflects the current functionality of entry hits.
